Rabeya Sarkar Rima was born in 1985 and comes from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is a photographer and videographer studying for a BA in Photography and is currently in her second year at Pathshala, the South Asian Institute of Photography.
Rabeya has made several video documentaries. She has worked as a reporter at ETV Bangladesh for 1.5 years from 2000-2001. She was also selected to be a child juror in the World Press Photo Competition in the Netherlands, 1997. In January 2002, she completed a one-month video documentary course under Laurent van Lanker, from Polymorfilms, Belgium. Her photographic assignments have included work with the Asia Foundation, USAID and UNICEF.
Rabeya has displayed her work in numerous group exhibitions and participated in many photography and film making workshops.
Rabeya Sarkar Rima’s Noteworthy Photographic Achievements:
- She received an Honor Award in 2006 for a Women photographer contest in Bangladesh.
- She got 2nd prize in a UNICEF photography contest on violence against women in 1996.
- Her photographs have been widely published since 2000, including in New Nation News Paper, The Daily Amar and Drik and Grameen calendars
