Kat Palasi is a freelance photographer based in Manila, Philippines. A graduate of the University of the Philippines and the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City, Kat has always been interested in the old and the new, in culture and communities, in adventure and travel stories.
As a two-time recipient of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) grant, Kat was able to participate in the Santa Fe Center of Photography’s The Project workshop of Sam Abell of the National Geographic in 2004. In 2005, she was also chosen to attend a free workshop for Asian photographers at the Angkor Photofestival in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Her continuing work projects are documenting her Ibaloy roots, women’s issues, the environment and youth culture. Her personal work can also be seen at this website.
She has contributed to local publications in the Philippines as well as Colors magazine (Italy) and the Washington Post (US).
