I was born in 1982 in the town of North Kashmir's Bandipora, 58 km
from the capital of Srinagar, when the seeds of the Kashmir Movement
were being sown by political leaders. I received my early education at
a military school in my town, and had my first camera when I was 7

editor for Al-Akhbar News Service and a cameraman for the national
television channel ETV (Enado Television). Today, I am working as
registered photojournalist with Kashmir Media Group, the
English-language newspaper Daily Rising Kashmir, and the regional
Kashmiri newspaper Sangarmaal. In 2007, I received an award for best
photojournalist for my documentation of Kashmiri culture and
