Smita Barooah is a professional photo artist and an author. She has apprenticed under renowned Indian photographer Mala Mukerjee and Singaporean lens man Joseph K.S Tan. Her first collection "Portals" has been exhibited at Sunjin gallery in Singapore, the Fringe Club Photogalerie in Hong Kong and Tullika Art in Mumbai. She has also taken part in group exhibitions in India and Singapore. Her photographs focus on the interplay of form, texture and colour.
Smita received her license from the Master Photographers Association, UK and the Photographic Society of Singapore. Prior to her foray into photography and writing, she was a Public Relations Consultant for Lintas India Limited in Mumbai. Smita has been living in Singapore since 2000, with her husband and two sons. She has a B.A.(Hons.) and a M.A. from Delhi University.
