Noor Alam is a freelance photographer from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was born in 1980. He completed a three year graduation program in photojournalism, at Pathshala, The South Asian Institute of Photography, in 2008.
His works have been published in many Bangladeshi national newspapers and magazines like The Daily Star, The New Age, The Monthly Purple, as well as international publications like Time Asia, Himal etc.
Noor’s first solo exhibition ‘Ballads of the Agonized Souls’ was held at Zainul Gallery, Dhaka, in May 2009. He wrote a book with the same title which depicts the struggle of thalassaemia patients in Bangladesh. Besides, his photos have also been shown in group exhibitions like Morten Krogvold Students’ Works, in Chobi Mela IV, Dhaka, in 2006. ‘Something About Reflections’, at Alliance Française de Dacca, in 2006, ‘Portrait Photography’, at The Goethe Institute, in 2002, Pathshala Students’ Work, at Drik Gallery, Dhaka, in 2008.
Presently he is working as a contributing photographer, at DrikNEWS.
