Irfanul Islam started his career as a Black & White darkroom executive from 1993 – 2006 at Drik Picture Library. He is now working as an assistant of Shahidul Alam, Managing Director of Drik. In 1988 he completed a course in Basic Photography and received his Diploma from the BEGART institute of Photography.
He has also been involved in various workshops, including the IIPC photography workshop (Madras, India) – 1990 and a workshop in Documentary Photography in “village life” conducted by British Photographer Steve Conlan. This was organized by the British Council, Drik & Bangladesh Photographic Society.

•Photograph published in "Mosaic in Green" (Bangladesh Foreign Ministry)
•Honorable mention award in Triitoranga (Chittagong , Bangladesh) – 1996.
•BPS silver medal in 2nd Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS) International photography competition & exhibition -1997.
•Honorable mention prize in Asian Cultural Center , UNESCO (ACCU) – 1998.
•Solo Photography exhibition at BPS in 1994, the exhibition inaugurated by Dr.Quazi Anwara Mansoor.
